Questions before you buy
Do I need a subscription?
Not on WiFi. Live data, every alarm, 45 days of history with Excel export, and email and push alerts stay free. Texts (about 1.5¢) and calls (about 3.7¢) use the ~$3.70 credit included with every device. Year 1 includes Premium; after that it is optional at about $17.78/year per device, billed annually, for full history, reports and sharing with new people. Cellular: year 1 included, then about $26.67/year per device, which covers the cellular network and Premium.
What if the WiFi or power goes down?
EDGE runs on 4 AA batteries (about 2 years), so it keeps logging through a power cut. On WiFi, if the router goes down too, a no-connection alert tells you it went offline, and the stored readings upload when it is back. Cellular models do not need your router: on USB-C power, a power cut is reported at the next recording and sent by push, email and text.
How do the alerts work?
Set a high and a low limit. If a reading leaves the range, MaxLinc calls, texts, emails and pushes the people you choose, and the buzzer sounds on the device. Alerts repeat until the reading is back in range; anyone on the team can snooze an alarm for up to 24 hours by acknowledging it and entering the reason. Email and push alerts are free; texts cost about 1.5¢ and calls about 3.7¢ after the included ~$3.70 credit.
