Products & choosing
What does a MaxLinc logger do?+
MaxLinc makes smart environmental data loggers that track temperature, humidity, CO2, air quality, pressure, current and more — and instantly call, text or email you if a reading drifts out of range. Every logger is designed and built in Vancouver, BC and includes a free cloud dashboard.
What's the difference between EDGE and BLOCK?+
EDGE is the everyday line for temperature, humidity and air quality — with an on-device screen, buzzer and visible alarm — in matched WiFi and Cellular versions. BLOCK is the industrial/retrofit line with plug-in sensors for pressure, current, pulse counting and 4-20 mA loops, where the calibration lives with the swappable sensor.
Should I choose WiFi, Cellular or NFC?+
WiFi connects to your existing 2.4 GHz network and the cloud is free forever. Cellular has a built-in eSIM and works with no WiFi (year one included, then about $3/month). NFC loggers are single-use, disposable tags for cold-chain shipments that you read with a phone tap.
What EDGE variants are available?+
Essential (temperature + humidity), Essential PLUS (enhanced accuracy), Thermo (two external temperature probes down to -55°C), Pharma One and Pharma Two (one or two NIST-traceable glycol probes for vaccine and pharmacy compliance), and Air (CO2, VOC and air quality).
How do I know which product I need?+
Each industry page on maxlinc.com (food service, pharmacy, HVAC, cold chain, museums, healthcare, property management, industrial) recommends a configuration, and the shop's picker helps you choose. Or email Support@MaxLinc.com and we'll spec it for you.
Subscription & cloud
Do I need a subscription?+
No — WiFi devices are free forever, including live data, all alarms (text, call, email), 45 days of history and every report. An optional Premium plan is $2/month for unlimited history and sharing. Cellular devices include everything free for year one, then about $3/month with no contract.
Why isn't cellular free like WiFi?+
Cellular units include a built-in eSIM that pays for its own mobile data, so the roughly $3/month after year one covers the network. WiFi units use your own internet, so there's nothing to pay. Many competing systems charge around $25/month per device, forever.
What do I lose if I don't pay for Premium?+
Nothing critical — the device keeps recording and sending alarms. You keep the most recent 45 days of history and all report types; Premium simply adds unlimited history and the ability to share a device with new users.
Is the dashboard an app I have to install?+
No. It's a progressive web app that runs in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer — nothing to download from an app store. On a phone you can optionally add it to your home screen so it behaves like an app.
Where is my data stored?+
On Canadian cloud servers, with daily backups and redundancy — a deliberate data-residency and privacy choice. The dashboard interface is available in more than 20 languages.
Can several people share one account with different permissions?+
Yes. Devices are shared by role: Owner (full control), Editor (settings and thresholds), Viewer (read-only), Silent Viewer (read-only, no alarms) and Service & Maintenance (for technicians). You can share with unlimited people and add unlimited alarm recipients.
Can I export my data or integrate with other systems?+
Yes. Any report exports to PDF, Excel or CSV and can be scheduled to email automatically. For integrations, data APIs and real-time alarm webhooks can push readings into an ERP, BMS or SCADA system.
Setup & connectivity
How hard is setup?+
Tool-free and quick. For WiFi you connect the device to your network in the app and you're monitoring in minutes — no installer needed. Cellular units connect themselves over the built-in eSIM.
What are the WiFi requirements?+
The device joins any standard 2.4 GHz network (it does not use 5 GHz). During setup you briefly connect your phone to the device's temporary hotspot, a setup page opens, and you pick your network and enter the password. A short beep pattern confirms success.
Do cellular units need a SIM card or a contract?+
No SIM to insert and no carrier contract. The eSIM is built in and works across 170+ countries with no roaming charges. Year one of connectivity is included; after that it's covered by the roughly $3/month plan.
Can a cellular unit fall back to WiFi?+
Yes. Cellular units can also connect to WiFi and roll over between the two automatically, so you keep coverage if one path drops.
Is the data real-time?+
Alarms are effectively real-time — a threshold breach uploads and alerts you immediately. Routine readings upload on a sync interval you choose (1 minute to 24 hours), set separately from how often the device records, so more frequent syncing gives finer data at the cost of battery.
What happens if the internet or power drops — do I lose data?+
No. The logger keeps recording to internal memory while offline (tens of thousands of readings) and uploads everything it missed as soon as it reconnects, so your history has no gaps.
Battery & power
How long does the battery last?+
Up to about 2 years on 4 standard AA batteries, for both WiFi and cellular models. Real-world life depends on how often it syncs, how much alarm activity there is, signal strength and temperature.
Can I run it on USB power instead of batteries?+
Yes — EDGE and BLOCK units accept USB-C power and switch to it automatically when plugged in, falling back to batteries if external power is lost. That's ideal for permanent installations.
Will it warn me before the batteries die?+
Yes. The device shows a low-battery indicator and the cloud sends a low-battery email alert. Always replace all the batteries at the same time with fresh, good-quality AA cells.
Alarms & alerts
How will I be alerted if something goes wrong?+
By SMS text, automated phone call, email and mobile push notification, plus an audible buzzer and visible alarm on the device itself. Alerts can repeat until someone acknowledges them.
Can I send alerts to more than one person?+
Yes — you can add an unlimited number of alarm recipients. Each person is added by sharing the device with them, and each controls their own text, call and push preferences.
Will I get flooded with false alarms?+
No — the system has a four-level alarm engine: instant (threshold cross), persistent/delayed (only if the condition holds), trend/drift (warns before a limit is breached), and event-based (flood or door contact). Cumulative time-weighted alarms are also available, such as an 8-hour average CO2 exposure.
Do text and phone-call alerts cost anything?+
Email alerts are always free and unlimited. Texts and automated phone calls draw from a small prepaid credit on the device (a per-message cost that varies by destination country). If credit runs out, texts and calls pause but email keeps working. You verify your phone number once first.
Will it tell me if a device goes offline?+
Yes. A no-connection alarm notifies you if a device hasn't reported within an expected window, and low-battery and power-change alerts are also available.
Is there a compliance audit trail?+
Yes. When someone acknowledges an alarm, the who, when and why is written to a tamper-proof, read-only record that can't be edited or deleted — built to support FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and insurance requirements.
Accuracy & compliance
Is it accurate, and can it meet compliance requirements?+
Yes. NIST-traceable calibrated probe options are available for vaccine and pharmacy compliance (CDC/VFC, FDA), and every product page lists that model's temperature, humidity and CO2 accuracy.
How do the NIST calibration certificates work?+
The certificate is issued to the sensor/probe, not the whole device, and ships with the probe. You can look one up without logging in — enter the probe's ID or scan its QR code to see the issue date, valid/expired status and download the certificate PDF.
How do I renew a calibration — do I ship the device back?+
No. Because calibration lives with the sensor, you just buy a newly calibrated probe and plug it in — no downtime and no shipping the whole unit away. The cloud emails you before a certificate expires.
How long is a calibration certificate valid?+
Typically up to about five years from the date the probe is first put into service. The exact expiry date is printed on the certificate and tracked automatically in the cloud.
Which compliance frameworks does MaxLinc support?+
HACCP, FDA / 21 CFR Part 11, VFC/CDC vaccine storage, NSF/ANSI 456, and GxP/GMP/GDP workflows — with immutable audit logs and NIST-traceable certificates tied to each sensor.
What reports can it generate?+
HACCP and food-safety logbooks, vaccine temperature reports, Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT), Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD), transport and cold-chain logs with GPS, temperature-mapping studies, and min/max/average summaries — all exportable to PDF, Excel or CSV and schedulable by email.
Ordering & payment
How can I pay?+
Through PayPal, which securely handles Apple Pay, Google Pay and Visa / Mastercard / American Express. You don't need a PayPal account to pay by card, and we never store your card details.
Do you charge in Canadian or US dollars?+
All orders are charged in Canadian dollars (CAD). US and international visitors can toggle the header to see approximate USD prices, but checkout always bills in CAD and shows a 'billed in CAD' note. Canadian visitors see CAD only.
Do I need an account to order?+
No — checkout is guest-friendly. Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/PST) is calculated once you select your province.
Is there a discount for first-time buyers?+
Yes — signing up through the welcome offer gives 10% off your first order (a minimum order applies). The welcome code can't be combined with other promotions or stacked on already-discounted sale items.
Shipping, returns & warranty
Where do you ship, and how much is it?+
To Canada and the United States. Flat shipping is $15 CAD, and it's free on orders over $100 CAD within Canada (free over US$100 for US customers). For orders outside these regions, contact Support@MaxLinc.com.
How fast will my order arrive?+
Orders are processed and shipped within 1-3 business days, and standard delivery within North America generally takes 3-5 business days (not guaranteed).
What's your return policy?+
We accept returns and exchanges up to 30 days after delivery, for both defective and non-defective items in new, unused condition with original packaging. Return shipping is free and there are no restocking fees; refunds go to your original payment method within about 7 days. Email Support@MaxLinc.com to start one.
What warranty do the devices carry?+
Every MaxLinc EDGE and BLOCK logger includes a 1-year limited hardware warranty against manufacturing defects. If a device fails under normal use during that period, we repair or replace it at no charge.
Will I owe duties or customs fees?+
Hardware loggers ship from Canada, so US customers generally avoid the duty and monthly-fee surprises common with imported alternatives. The one exception is the disposable NFC tag pack, where US import duties and customs fees are the customer's responsibility (noted at checkout).
NFC loggers
What are the NFC loggers for?+
They're disposable, single-use temperature loggers you drop into a parcel or shipment. On arrival, anyone can tap a smartphone to the tag to read the full temperature history and prove cold-chain compliance — no gateway, and no account needed by the person scanning.
What app reads them, and how do they work?+
The free LoggerFlex NFC Tag Reader app (on the App Store and Google Play). Activate a tag by pressing the button three times within two seconds; it records temperature every 10 minutes, holds about 4,000 readings (roughly four weeks) and runs 2-3 months. No login is needed to scan — a registered email routes the data to your MaxLinc cloud account.
